Odd Fellows Lodges Requesting Assistance

The Jefferson Odd Fellows in Jefferson North Caroliana have opened their lodge to be used as a staging area for disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in Ashe County, NC. The lodge itself has taken on serious water damage but has power.

Our operations are currently identifying all of the needs and gaps in the community.

As it is right now, things we are needing on the short term are things like pet food, cat litter, animals toys, kids toys, coloring books, things to entertain kids.

For the long term, we know that when the news wears down, folks are going to be left to rebuild communities on their own. When FEMA and the Red Cross are gone, the Odd Fellows will still be here to take on all the needs other nonprofits will not touch. Knowing this, we are raising funds and looking ahead to more long term planning.

That is what our lodge is doing. I do not know what the lodge in Asheville is doing but someone else in our lodge might. Cell service is spotty at best. We have members trapped on a road that is now a literal creek now. Saying that to say, knowledge of things happening beyond our communities is patchy.
