The Atlantic Provinces Rebekah Assembly is the governing body for the Atlantic Provinces Rebekahs. Established on September 20, 1851, the Rebekahs, also known as the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies (IARA), and originally the Daughters of Rebekah is an international service-oriented organization and a branch of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. It was initially designed as the female auxiliary of the IOOF but now allows both female and male members.
The Dryden Canton is over a hundred years old. Its home was at IOOF Scotia Lodge #11 Westville.The Canton was inactive for about five years but was reestablished two years ago. We now have ten members. The Patriarchs Militant (PM) is the highest degree within the IOOF, focusing on ceremonial and fraternal activities. Patriarchs Militant lodges are referred to as Cantons.
Established in 1854, Eastern Star Lodge # 1 has existed in the town of Pictou for 174 years. We continue to be active in our community. Odd Fellows lodges engage in various activities, such as helping the sick, supporting the distressed, educating orphans, and participating in charitable projects tailored to the needs of our local communities.
