Ocean View Lodge #143
The Ocean View Lodge No. 143 was founded in Half Moon Bay in 1868, making it one of the oldest operating organizations on the California Coastside. Before a formal municipality existed, fraternal organizations like the Odd Fellows managed the civic affairs of the community. The influence of the lodge was so central that all five of the original Half Moon Bay city councilmen were members, and the local city government was officially formed right inside the Odd Fellows Hall.
Today, the lodge continues to be the hub for local volunteer initiatives and charitable efforts, including scholarships for local youth. We are located at 526 Main Street, Half Moon Bay, across the street from the City Hall and down the street from the Chamber of Commerce.
Our lodge meetings are on 2nd Thursdays at 6pm followed by a potluck and 4th Thursdays at 7pm followed by dessert (social meeting). We also host a pancake breakfast the last Sunday of the month from 9:30am - 11:30am. In addition, the Young Odds (working professionals) meet on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month. Our lodge hosts a monthly Speaker, Film, Dance and Music series, as well as numerous activities open to the public, including Coastside Photo Group, Writer's Night, Book Club, Hiking, Coffee Chat, and more! Please contact the lodge to confirm the date/time when visiting. All are welcome!
